Working on Policy Change Within the Parameters of Funding

Federal and state funding for prevention programs and coalitions comes with restrictions on lobbying activities.  But what is lobbying? 

What is education and advocacy, and are they allowed?  This training will distinguish the differences between these three, including what education and advocacy efforts are allowed under your state or federal funding.

Learning Objectives:

1.  Review and discuss the definitions of Lobbying and Educational Advocacy

2.  Describe the legislative process and how lobbying occurs within that process

3.  Analyze case studies to determine whether they represent lobbying or educational advocacy activities

Prevention Ethics

December 1,2020 -  10am - 12 noon,       December 2, 2020 - 10am - 12 noon
December 3,2020 - 10am - 12 noon         (Three 2-hour sessions)

This training engages learners in reviewing and reflecting on the Prevention Code of Ethics established by the IC&RC.  Participants will become familiar with the 6 Principles of the Code through case studies and personal examples.  This training provides 6 CEU's to meet the requirement for becoming a Certified Prevention Specialist.

1. Discuss common ethical situations facing Prevention Professionals
